Nevada tourism receives national attention; story ignored in state

One industry facing dire impacts from a slow-down economy and increasingly outrageous petrol prices received attention recently from none other than the real, true voice of quality American journalism: ABCNews.

The ‘News reports that Nevada prostitution is taking a hit from the country’s economic recession. Whorehouses, or brothels as some call them, are legally located only outside of metropolitan areas in the Silver State, so travel to select locales is becoming an economic disincentive, according to whorehouse regulars, and the sex workers themselves.

Nevada media was collectively mute about the story, despite clamoring for any national attention received for most other stories that feature the Silver State, including high-profile murders, bombers and fallen airplanes. News editors cited prostitution as something the state doesn’t really want to be known for, despite most people around the world visiting the state just for its lucrative sex-work industry.
